Background

"If you have trained and worked as a newspaper journalist, you can write about anything."

Having trained under some pretty terrifying lecturers at University of Wales, Cardiff, Caroline Moore worked for the Northampton Chronicle & Echo and the Oxford Mail, before plying her trade in professional men's rugby for 10 years: first, for Northampton Saints, and then, for Exeter Chiefs.

In her role as a rugby communications manager, Caroline had to apply herself to writing and editing the match day programme and quarterly magazines, managing the club website and e-newsletters, and liaising with national and local written and broadcast media on a daily basis, while coping with the varied and often challenging personalities that make up a squad of 40-plus rugby players.

Caroline left Chiefs when they won promotion to the Premiership having already begun to work for business clients in Exeter and Kingsbridge, and found the skills of writing and public relations were transferrable whether working for a private sector business, a professional sports club or a newspaper.

She discovered businesses appreciated her work ethic that has stemmed from being a one-woman band for the majority of her time in professional rugby and warmed to her pay-as-you-go policy that helps companies keep a lid on their marketing spend in tough economic times.

And so Brightside PR was born....
